Chief Medical Officer, Sonic Healthcare Australia Pathology

Dr Lawrie Bott is the inaugural Chief Medical Officer of Sonic Healthcare Australia Pathology , being appointed in 2017. Dr Bott trained as a general pathologist and held the role of Chief Executive Officer with Southern.IML Pathology from 2000 – 2021. Prior to this appointment, he was a partner and Pathologist at Barratt & Smith Pathology becoming that organisation's Chief Executive Officer in 1995. He was also Chief Medical Officer for Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd (Tasmania) from 2006 to 2016.

Dr Bott is the current President of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). Since 2000, he has served on many internal & external committees for the RCPA, including as a Board Member of QAP Pty Ltd. Dr Bott received the RCPA Meritorious Service Award in 2013.

The pathology practices of Sonic Healthcare Australia have outstanding records in delivering superior healthcare outcomes for both doctors and patients.  As Chief Medical Officer, Dr Bott undertakes a leadership role as an advocate of Sonic Healthcare’s unique culture of Medical Leadership.
